340B Overview
Sometimes referred to as "PHS Pricing" or "602 Pricing," the 340B Drug Pricing Program
requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to certain covered entities
specified in the statute 42 U.S.C. 340B(a)(4)at a reduced price, also defined in
the statute. This is a price-capping program for federally approved/funded medical
facilities including pharmacies, clinics, indigent hospitals, aids clinics, etc.
Any pharmacy that fills scripts for covered entities can get drugs at the fixed
price, but they have to be able to track the inventory separately from their normal
retail inventory. HCC provides the tools to maintain the separate inventory guidelines
necessary for participation in 340B programs.
